Australia City College (ACC) is a young and progressive college established in 2000. ACC became an officially Registered Training Organisation in February 2003 (RTO National Code: 30878) and is qualified to deliver courses to overseas students (CRICOS Provider Code: 02461K).
ACC has already distinguished itself as one of Australia’s most innovative providers of niche training and career services. We pride ourselves on our unique and highly successful approach to placing students in employment, through training and direct links to a strong support network in Australia, China, and a number of other countries.
The College embraces the need for changes driven by the competitive nature of international and domestic education.
ACC positions itself as an educational organization bridging the educational needs between Australia and China. Since its official registration in Australia, ACC has trained over 1600 students from Australia and China, including hundreds of Australian students, teachers and students from China Three Gorges University, Fuyang High School, Zhejiang University City College and many more.
ACC offers Certificate and Diploma level courses to both Australian and international students including:
Our ‘Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages’ (TESOL) programs are designed and structured to maximise manageable learning and gaining direct job opportunities for Australians. Our graduates are able to gain immediate, valuable international experience in China and can opt to serve 2 weeks to 50 weeks teaching contracts with Chinese schools.
Our Diploma course graduates wishing to enter Australia universities can utilise direct credits and fast-track pathways that save them significant amounts of money and time.
Apart from these Australian nationally accredited courses, we also offer a number of other programs and services:
- Mini China Immersion Program in Australia: designed to prepare Australians before their departure for China. It provides an insight into Chinese culture, aids integration and helps reduce the impact of culture shock. This program also provides basic Chinese language training.
- Facilitating international programs, including international cooperation between:
- ACC and HZC (Hangzhou Zhijiang College)
- ACC and ZUCC (Zhejiang University City College)
- Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and ZUCC
- University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) and ZUCC
- Other involvement with QUT includes steering committee membership by Ms Karen Yu (ACC) in 2001 by invitation from the Faculty of Education, QUT, to participate in a Feasibility Study for Extended TESOL Teaching experience for B. Ed students and a 2003 International Project Collaboration Agreement.
- Engaging Australian universities to provide various services for other Chinese programs. These include: three architecture consultation services by QUT, a research program with CQU, and the co-supervision of Masters Students program at UQ.
- Receiving study tour groups and government delegations from China frequently providing important marketing opportunities for Australian education capacity exposure to the Chinese market. This also gives our TESOL graduates opportunities to practice their English teaching skills.
- Encouraging Cultural Exchange and Internship within both countries is also a high priority on our agenda.
Recent Achievements
- ACC has gained a number of government grants, including a significant grant in 2006 for a Quality Assurance Improvement project “Customising an off-the-shelf VET package for delivery in China”.
- Presentation to “International Seminar in Transnational Education’ hosted by ZUCC in Hang Zhou May 2006.
